Hiding Man Boobs
Whatever age you are when gynecomastia is suspected or diagnosed, it is a source of great
embarrassment. I remember, as a schoolboy, a classmate was so obsessed with the business of hiding man boobs
that he used to make up all sorts of excuses for not using the communal showers after a football game or gym
session. I seem to recall that some of his reasons were…”contagious skin condition”, “eczema”, “colds” and
“flu”. We all knew, of course, that he was very self-conscious of his breast development. Most of us had empathy
with him but, as in every school, in every country, there were a few ‘bullies’. These heartless individuals
seemed to delight in teasing the young guy, totally insensitive to his feelings. No wonder he didn’t want other
boys to see. Hence his intense need for hiding man boobs.
I remember as well that he developed poor posture- a sort of hunched stance instead of the
‘neutral spine’ that all sports teachers and fitness instructors like myself try to teach. For those of you who
have not heard the expression ‘neutral spine’, it is where the ears, shoulders, hips, knees and feet are all in
a vertical line when standing up.
The medical profession did not have the knowledge back in the 1960's that we have today. This
was particularly so with gynecomastia. Up until the 1970's there was no treatment as such apart from surgery. As
you can imagine, this often left unsightly scars and disfigurement. A case of the cure being worse than the
disease?
Surgery is not the only answer as a look at…
‘The Chest Coach
System’
will demonstrate. It’s an entirely natural approach that has helped many men, young and old,
regain a manly chest.
Parents were understandably unwilling or financially unable to subject their boys
to surgery so the pre-occupation with hiding man boobs continued into adulthood. It’s bad enough as a boy
but with a grown man another embarrassment is likely to be suffered during encounters with the opposite sex.
And so it goes on until most guys simply have to do something that will help in hiding man
boobs or curing them.
In the meantime, you may need to consider some form of compression underwear to address the
problem of hiding man boobs. If your condition is not too pronounced and you are not carrying too much body fat
then you may find that a tight fitting vest containing ‘elasthane’ or equivalent will do when worn underneath
your everyday work or leisure clothes.
However, if you have to hide man boobs that are more substantial, you will need to consider
compression garments. While these are normally used after surgery they can be worn prior to any treatment for
gynecomastia. Proper compression garments have the following key features:
- 3-Dimensionalstretch fabric so that compression is effective yet comfortable.
- Softness, using fiber blends such as ‘Tactel’ or ‘Lycrasoft’.
- Because the garments fit so close the issue of moisture control becomes paramount. A
modern, breathable fabric will allow moisture to escape and air to enter thus keeping the skin dry and
cool.
- The fabric must have an anti-microbial feature built into block the growth of bacteria,
mildew and moulds thus keeping the user fresh over long periods.
- Finally, gynecomastia compression garments must last because they are not cheap. The best
quality garments will withstand up to 30 extreme washes and many more gentle ones.
These compression clothes range from simple tank tops to full length body suits, costing
from $70 to $200. There are many manufacturers worldwide so make your choice using the above 5 must-have
requirements.
As you know by now, I believe in natural cures rather than continuously hiding man boobs so I
